Oregon Nursing CEUs

Oregon RN CEU Requirements

• Total Hours Required: 2
• Elective Hours: 0
• Renewal Cycle: Every two years

Nurses need to complete 400 practice hours every renewal period (400 hours every two years). Continuing Education (CE) is only necessary if a nurse does not meet the 400 practice hours requirement.

Initial Licensure Requirements

• 1 hour of a course from the Oregon Pain Management Commission
• 6 hours of pain management training

License Renewal Requirements

• 2 hours of cultural competency training

The District of Columbia Board of Nursing does not accept courses that are approved for less than one contact hour.

To keep their licenses active, all RNs in the District of Columbia must complete 24 hours of continuing education for license renewal. This includes:

• 2 hours of LGBTQ+ continuing education (CE)
• 3 hours of CE focused on public health priorities set by the Director of the Department of Health

Washington DC LPN CEU Requirements

The District of Columbia Board of Nursing does not accept courses that are approved for less than 1.0 contract hours.

RNs in West Virginia must complete 12 hours of continuing education each year to keep their licenses active. The West Virginia Board of Nursing requires that each course be accepted by at least 1.0 contact hours.

• Two hours of training in end-of-life care and pain management.

License Renewal Requirements

• 3 hours on substance abuse
• Two hours on assessing whether patients are veterans or family members of veterans and screening for conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide risk, depression, grief, and suicide prevention.
